Job Overview

As a Building Technology Analyst, you support the Cortland Innovation team by identifying, tracking, and implementing new strategies for community building technology. These technologies include access control, cameras, audio/visual equipment, smart home, smart locks, package lockers, and EV charging stations. You also assess new community technology trends to keep our communities up to date.

Roles You Will Play

The Analyzer

  • Utilize project management best practices and methodologies to develop project plans, measure progress against agreed deliverables, and mitigate risks and issues
  • Generate weekly reports on the status of acquisitions and existing community projects
  • Consult with various end users to clarify project directives, scopes, deliverables, and timelines to analyze risks
  • Ensure planning, installation and feedback loops run smoothly and consistently

 The Techie

  • Coordinate with technology vendors and installers to identify existing issues, update and install new technology
  • Support Cortland’s subject matter experts with developing solutions to issues and creating efficiencies
  • Generate technology-focused field reports that evaluate the collected data to develop a proactive strategy for each community or group of communities
  • Coordinate with regional IT support to update information on network and systems setup

The Leader

  • Update and maintain a portfolio wide building technology database including vendors, products and installers
  • Create and update strategy for ongoing support for an acquired community’s technology needs
  • Coordinate regional and portfolio wide technology installations and updates with regard to access control, cameras, EV chargers, etc
  • Coordinate technology trainings for onsite associates to inform them on the proper use and function of building technology equipment

Building Blocks of Success

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree; strong 2-3 years of equivalent work experience, IT project management or related field and a background in technical support
  • Ability to solve problems creatively; willingness to adapt to new strategies
  • Capability to quickly learn new technology and ask investigative questions
  • Ability to personally and professionally communicate technology-specific concepts to novices
  • Talent for understanding others’ points of view and establishing trust
  • Ability to continue on a project despite difficulty and delay of completion
  • Results driven, self-starter able to thrive in a collaborative, and cross-functional environment
  • Confident and comfortable working with multiple teams and handling uncertainty
  • Experience and knowledge of Project Management tools and techniques
