Role Overview

As a Senior Retail Property Accountant, you are the cornerstone of financial integrity and operational efficiency across the retail portfolio. You bring a blend of technical expertise in retail property accounting, a collaborative spirit across property operations and investment management, and proactive leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, seamless lease administration, and strategic cash management to ensure Retail Space Accounting processes are running with maximum efficiency.

 

The Closer

  • Complete all monthly and annual close activities for the Retail portfolio, including the preparation of income statements, balance sheets, and cash account reconciliations
  • Complete all financials and reconciliations to ensure accuracy
  • Help Operations team review their annual budgets
  • This person would need to be willing to work with the Community Managers, to ensure:
    • Invoices are allocated property between Multi-Family Space and Retail Space
    • Making sure to copies of Final signed leases are available and filed properly.  This includes Renewals and Amendments.
    • Options to renew are known and on their radar

  • Communicates clearly and routinely with Community and Regional Management, and Investment Management teams regarding financial statements and cash management
  • Help develop, document, and communicate accounting policy and procedures; identify and implement process improvements as applicable

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in the Retail Accounting field (Retail Real Estate accounting experience preferred) with working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial accounting processes and systems, and general ledger reconciliation
  • Audit experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA or MBA a plus
  • Strong communication, planning, organizational, quantitative, and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail while performing multiple assignments under tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; OneSite experience a plus
