Role Overview

The Investment Associate supports the Investment team in the acquisition and management of multifamily assets through quantitative analysis, modeling and reporting, and preparing and presenting investment materials, including project documentation and other administrative reports.

 

• Support the acquisitions process in underwriting, coordinating due diligence, and facilitating pre-construction efforts
• Organize detailed financial information into reports for internal and external distribution
• Work with the Director of Investments and Investment Manager to create Investment Committee presentations
• Report property and portfolio valuations of real estate assets, based on the latest debt and equity sources to investors and internal teams as needed
• Conduct market research that will allow you to analyze supply/demand and rent/sales comparables, including estimated replacement cost
• Assist the Director of Investments by facilitating plan logistics and working with Cortland’s legal department to understand details of all loan agreements and other legal documents
• Execute work flow management obligations and coordinate project closings while ensuring proper documentation every step of the way
• Travel up to 75% of working hours as necessary to close transactions, see new potential acquisitions, and track renovation progress
• Work closely with the Investment Manager to take on more responsibilities and expand your role with the team
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or related major, or equivalent experience required.
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in real estate investment or development
  • Experience in the multifamily industry preferred
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports
