Role Overview

The Director of Institutional Marketing supports the execution of integrated marketing initiatives aimed at Cortland’s capital markets audiences, with a strong focus on institutional investor engagement. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer and working in close partnership with the Capital Markets and Communications teams, this individual will manage campaign implementation, investor communications materials, and support the firm’s brand visibility across channels. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, regulated environment and enjoys driving impact through content development, digital marketing, and cross-functional coordination.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Campaign Execution and Channel Management

  • Support the implementation of capital markets marketing campaigns including email, social media, and digital collateral.
  • Leverage platforms to manage email communication with institutional clients and prospects.
  • Monitor campaign performance and partner with analytics teams to generate actionable insights.

Content Creation and Development

  • Partner on the strategy and delivery of thought leadership initiatives and investment-focused content.
  • Draft, edit, and format high-impact marketing materials including investor presentations, conference materials, digital advertisements, flyers, and presentation collateral.
  • Collaborate with designers and the communications team to develop compelling visual and written content.
  • Maintain messaging consistency across platforms, ensuring compliance and brand alignment.

Events and Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Capital Markets, Communications, Legal, and Compliance teams to align messaging and materials across the function.
  • Coordinate logistics, materials, and messaging for key investor events, conferences, and speaking engagements.

Digital and Social Presence

  • Draft and create investment-related content for institutional audiences to be featured across digital channels—including the website—while providing strategic input on messaging.
  • Track engagement and relevance to continuously refine and optimize content performance.

Market Awareness and Compliance

  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity to inform content and campaign direction.
  • Ensure all marketing outputs are reviewed and approved in accordance with regulatory (FINRA, SEC) and internal compliance standards.

Marketing Operations and Asset Oversight

  • Maintain and oversee the marketing drive structure and shared asset libraries, ensuring resources are current and easy to access.
  • Support compliance and brand consistency by coordinating internal reviews and approvals for all external-facing content.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field required; Master’s degree a plus.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in financial services, FinTech, investment management, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in executing email, digital, and content marketing campaigns.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a high attention to detail and the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, engaging messages.
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics and campaign performance tools (Amplitude, Google Analytics, etc.).
  • Experience in a regulated marketing environment preferred.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with video and multimedia content development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and common marketing software platforms.
