Job Overview

As a Strategy Associate, you’ll work closely with the Analytics team to deliver business solutions that drive enterprise value for Cortland. By engaging diverse projects, you will gain exposure to all departments in the firm and will work closely with leadership to execute high-value projects and initiatives. This dynamic role enables you to develop a well-rounded skill set that translates to leadership positions through deep understanding of the business.

Roles You Will Play

  • Develop insightful, data-driven analyses to guide key business decisions, and present findings to stakeholders with clarity and confidence, translating complex insights into actionable strategies
  • Interpret the implications of your analyses and provide digestible, actionable recommendations for business leaders
  • Lead or contribute insight to projects ranging from operational platform analysis to digital transformation efforts across the business
  • Work with teams across departments to address business needs, foster alignment, and support strategic decision-making
  • Build and refine scaling models that support growth objectives and long-term planning for the firm
  • Contribute to digital transformation projects by analyzing existing processes, identifying automation opportunities, and supporting the integration of digital tools
  • Conduct research on market trends, competitors, and industry standards to inform project strategies and provide context for analyses
  • Identify areas of improvement within current business processes and propose data-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Track and evaluate KPIs to assess the success of projects and suggest adjustments as needed to drive optimal results
  • Prepare detailed documentation and reports that clearly communicate the results of analyses and recommendations for business stakeholders 

Building Blocks of Success

  • 2+ years of experience in management consulting, banking, or internal strategy organization; Real estate experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, a proactive mindset, and a talent for turning ambiguity into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong grasp of business metrics, market dynamics, and reporting tools, paired with a curiosity to learn new analytical methodologies and business intelligence technologies.
  • Skilled in Python, SQL, and working with large datasets; expertise in financial modeling, Excel, and PowerPoint for creating high-impact deliverables
